Two big wins for IBM iX at Deutscher Digital Award 2022

IBM iX wins silver for the BARMER Mobile Experience and bronze for the new BVG website at one of the most important awards for digital creative excellence in the DACH region.

Berlin, 12.05.2022 – IBM iX wins with two projects at this year’s Deutscher Digital Award (DDA): silver for BARMER and bronze for BVG—both for outstanding “User Experience/Usability.” The CovPass digital vaccination certificate also made it to the DDA shortlist in the “Mobile Apps” category. After three years of digital celebrations, the 2022 awards ceremony took place at the hip Berlin event location MaHalla on May 11.

Creativity and innovation in the digital economy

This is what the DDA celebrates in the DACH region every year. The wide variety of categories and sub-categories—from digital advertising to branded content to mobile apps—honour excellence in creativity for the digital industry. Submissions are judged by experts from advertising, companies and the trade press.

This year IBM iX focuses on two categories: “Mobile Apps > User Experience/Usability” and “Website > User Experience/Usability”. The work that wins provides an excellent experience in interaction through their structure, user-friendliness and user language. In other words, apps and websites where users can navigate particularly easily and quickly, or which stand out through special architecture or features and frictionless experience.

BARMER wins silver for Top Mobile Experience

The healthcare market is digitizing rapidly, and customer expectations of health insurance companies and their digital services are growing, pushing BARMER to completely revamp its digital services with IBM iX. Together we developed a new digital design system for BARMER’s two central apps with appealing design language, iconography and sympathetic illustrations.

In the new eCare app, cutomers can securely store their therapy documents and individually release them to their doctors, a medication planner reminds them of receipts and dosages, and all health passports are made available to them with a tap. In the new BARMER app tasks can be completed quickly online and the status can be tracked. The new mailbox makes communication faster and more secure, and receiving bonus payments has never been easier.

The result: Silver in the “Mobile Apps > User Experience/Usability” category.

User-friendly BVG web platform takes home bronze

Sustainable mobility for all. That’s the mission of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG). To get Berliners excited about green mobility in the city, IBM iX worked with BVG to develop a user-friendly web platform where everything comes together.

With a powerful connection search, tons of mobility offerings, and important updates and self-service options, commuting in Berlin is now easier than ever. The project’s agile approach is geared towards further development: IBM iX is constantly evaluating feedback, talking to users, developing new solutions, and delivering new features on a weekly basis.

The result: Bronze in the “Website > User Experience/Usability” category.
