Whether long products, flat products, or tubes in all dimensions and grades –unprocessed or industrially prefabricated: Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel GmbH provides a suitable range for all high-quality steel products. To expand the digitisation of its customer relationships, the quality supplier of steel products has entrusted IBM iX with the further development of the digital sales and service channel.
Systems. Service. Steel. Digital. — Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel, headquartered in Mülheim, offers its customers a holistic, integrative concept of sales, service, warehousing, and logistics for the reliable supply of high-quality steel products on demand. With Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel e-WORLD, this service is also available to customers digitally. Based on the quality and service standards of Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel, the digital range of services is being continuously expanded and the online offering is being developed into a broad-based service portal. In the future, customers will be able to access various self-services and value-added information on offers and orders online. At the same time, Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel is focusing on process optimisation by using artificial intelligence (AI) in order processing and sales, thus underlining its focus on sustainable customer-oriented solutions.
“Especially for traditional industries, digitisation offers great potential for transforming business processes and improving customer relationships. We are very proud of the trust placed in us by Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel GmbH and look forward to working together to collaboratively creating a positive digital experience for customers in the steel trading sector,” explains Markus Dietrich, CEO IBM iX Düsseldorf.
Since 2016, Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel has been offering its customers digital access to its broad portfolio of steel products via the e-SHOP. With its increased focus on digitisation, the steel company is now looking to further expand its range of digital services.
“As a trading company, we need a model that puts the customer at the centre and makes added value digitally available. With IBM iX, we now have a partner with extensive experience in creating attractive customer experiences and the know-how for technical implementation,” said Jan Nowak, Managing Director of Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel Deutschland.
2022, the digital roadmap was jointly developed during a compact strategy sprint, thus laying the foundation for further cooperation. In the future, IBM iX will be entrusted with the modernisation of digital sales towards a user-oriented service portal, from e-commerce to e-business. The digital agency will be available as a “user experience” consultant, but will also provide long-term support for the technical implementation of the platform. The continuous development of the digital customer service offer is intended to strengthen the leading position of the tradition-rich steel trade online as well.
