Global Procurement Specialist / Strategic Buyer (m/f/x)

To strengthen our Procurement team, we are looking for an experienced buyer who takes on both strategic and operational responsibility and manages a defined category end to end. IBM iX’s centralised indirect procurement function is responsible for all relevant commodity groups for internal demand as well as client projects – from software and hardware to services, office and corporate services.

As a Global Procurement Specialist, you take ownership of a defined category and ensure efficient, compliant and cost‑effective procurement.

Sounds like you? Then we are looking for you as soon as possible in a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Berlin or Düsseldorf.

Your tasks

• You review, process and clarify procurement requests and manage purchase orders in the order management system
• You ensure a smooth, compliant and well‑documented P2P process
• You collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and project teams across Germany, Austria and Croatia
• You conduct tenders, prepare bid comparisons and evaluate suppliers
• You lead price and contract negotiations at national and international level
• You develop and implement category strategies
• You build, manage and continuously develop supplier relationships
• You take ownership of supplier management including onboarding, master data maintenance and performance tracking
• You prepare market, cost and demand analyses to identify savings potential and ensure audit‑compliant documentation

Your skills

• You have several years of experience in indirect procurement, covering both strategic and operational responsibilities, ideally in a corporate or IT services environment
• You bring strong expertise in category management, sourcing, supplier management and purchase‑to‑pay processes
• You have a solid understanding of end‑to‑end procurement processes, compliance requirements and best‑practice procurement frameworks
• You have experience conducting tenders, preparing bid comparisons and leading supplier evaluations
• You demonstrate strong negotiation skills in national and international price and contract negotiations
• You work confidently with internal stakeholders across business functions and international locations
• You are comfortable working with numbers and have very good knowledge of Excel and modern procurement systems
• You speak German and English fluently and are negotiation‑proficient in both languages (at least B2–C1)
