(Senior) Magento Developer

IBM iX – Experience the Human Factor.

Join us as a Magento Developer and help build and evolve Adobe Commerce solutions, from complex integrations and search functionality to performance optimization and headless APIs. In this role, you’ll develop and maintain custom modules, work on product search and external system integrations, and solve complex challenges across APIs, data flows, and performance. You’ll collaborate closely with frontend teams, product owners, and architects in an agile, cross-functional environment where technical ownership and clean code go hand in hand with hands-on problem solving.

We are looking for you to join our team as soon as possible in full-time (40 hours per week), ideally in Varaždin/Zagreb/Osijek in a hybrid way (partially home-office).

Your tasks

• You build and maintain Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce modules and integrations
• You work in headless, API-first environments using GraphQL, writing custom queries and resolvers and handling debugging
• You develop and troubleshoot search functionality using Smile ElasticSuite and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, covering indexing, relevance, and query debugging
• You connect Magento with external systems such as ERPs and PIMs like Akeneo, ensuring consistent data flows across platforms
• You identify bottlenecks and optimize performance (queries, indexing, and caching layers like Varnish and Redis)
• You analyze and resolve complex issues across APIs, search, imports, and data flows
• You collaborate closely with frontend teams, product owners, and architects

Your skills

• You have 3+ years of experience with PHP, MySQL, and Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce, and a solid grasp of Magento architecture including modules, DI, plugins, indexing, and APIs
• You have practical experience with multi-store Magento setups, including store scope configuration across websites, stores, and store views, and managing differences in catalog, pricing, and integrations
• You bring experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch, including querying, relevance tuning, and debugging
• You work confidently with GraphQL  (custom resolvers, debugging queries), and have a strong understanding of REST/SOAP APIs and system integrations
• You have experience with PIM systems such as Akeneo or complex product data structures
• You have experience with performance optimization techniques (caching, query optimization, indexing), and are familiar with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and cloud-based environments
• You are comfortable working in Agile/Scrum teams and bring strong problem-solving skills, especially in complex debugging scenarios
• You communicate fluently in English (German is a plus)
