To tackle this challenge, IBM iX hosted a hackathon with one goal in mind: to empower editorial teams through technology. The result was Kixa, an AI-powered prototype tool designed to transform content creation. Kixa was built to assist online editors in generating ideas, creating tailored content, optimizing for SEO, and producing high-quality drafts and headlines—all in record time.

 

Bringing Kixa to life

Based on watsonx.ai, IBM’s studio for generative AI and machine learning, Kixa was created and exceeded expectations. Kixa’s intuitive AI capabilities streamline every step of the editorial process, from ideation to publication while Editors maintain complete control and unrestricted creative autonomy, as Kixa produces variant suggestions and offers textual illustrations for editors’ consideration. Articles become more engaging, reader-focused, and optimized for various platforms, including magazines, websites, and community management. AI enables a better understanding of the target groups and makes it easier to understand their perspective and adapt content accordingly.

The impact: editors can now work up to 75% faster, freeing up time for creative work and strategic planning.
