With experience strategy and user-centred design, IBM iX supported the uvex group in its mission to protect people from head to toe in all situations.

It is becoming increasingly important for brand manufacturers to build direct relationships with their customers. That’s also the case for the uvex group. For that reason the uvex group has bundled all its brands and products in a multi-brand webshop. The challenge is to unite different brand worlds on a sustainable platform. For the uvex group, this is another crucial step into the direct-to-consumer business and a milestone in becoming a multi-channel provider of high-quality sports and personal protective equipment.

A seamless shopping experience for every target group

The new webshop provides customers with quick, easy and direct access to the uvex group’s main brands. The focus is on the central user need: safety in sports and leisure. Also new target groups has been identified. For example, the new webshop also offers selected professional ranges from uvex safety for DIY and gardening.

In addition, individual “theming” makes it possible to offer highlight products, campaign content, and product bundles on-brand landing pages. This enables consistent communication with customers across every single digital touchpoint and converts customer journeys into a purchase.

Service experiences in all phases of the shopping journey

More than ever, D2C eCommerce systems must meet the growing expectations of consumers with the best possible service offerings. Customers must be guided to the ideal product for their needs.
With the help of a digital purchase advisor and individual size advice, customers can find the right product in the web store. This not only increases trust in the brand but also reduces the number of returns.

Sustainable solutions out of the box

The shopping platform was implemented in Magento. IBM iX provided strategic and creative support for the uvex group. We designed a comprehensive set of components that can be used in a variety of ways throughout the store using Page Builder. In addition, we carefully adapted Magento’s out-of-the-box checkout solution. Our goal was to permanently improve the shopping experience in the checkout area — without creating excessive operational overhead for future updates.

Step-by-step to your own D2C platform

The uvex group worked alongside IBM iX to design a D2C multi-brand online store step-by-step. The MVP was launched after just 8 months. Today, the uvex group is establishing itself as a high-quality and solution-oriented multichannel provider with its own D2C platform. The challenge of uniting different brand worlds on one platform was solved sustainably with the choice of Magento. And the result speaks for itself: the bounce rate at checkout alone was reduced by 13%.
